About

A local practice, run by someone who does the work

Blue Marble Business Services is a small accounting and bookkeeping practice based at Ashley Heath, on the edge of Ringwood, with more than ten years spent looking after small and growing businesses across Hampshire and Dorset.

We started it because too many small businesses were getting the same deal from bigger firms: a set of accounts nine months after the year end, an invoice for every phone call, and no idea what the numbers meant. That is a filing service, not an accountant.

So we kept the practice small on purpose. You get the same person every time, the work is done by the person you speak to, and we would rather tell you something useful in March than something accurate in December.

The name comes from the photograph of Earth taken from Apollo 17 — the first time anyone saw the whole thing at once. That is the job, more or less. Most owners see fragments: the bank balance, the VAT bill, the last invoice that landed. Our job is to put the whole picture in front of you, in focus, while there is still time to do something about it.

The team

Two people, and you will know both of them

No account managers, no call centre, no being passed around. Between us we do all of the work, and you will recognise the voice on the phone.

Founder

Lucy

Lucy started Blue Marble after more than ten years in practice, on a simple view: a small business deserves an accountant who picks up the phone and explains the answer. She looks after year-end accounts, corporation tax, the quarterly Making Tax Digital updates and the planning conversations, and she is usually the person you speak to first.

She is happiest telling a client something useful in March rather than something accurate in December.

Looks after: limited company accounts · corporation tax · tax planning · self assessment · quarterly MTD updates · new client onboarding

Bookkeeping & Payroll

Holly

Holly runs the day-to-day: bank reconciliations, VAT returns, payroll, CIS returns and keeping client files current in Xero. If your books have drifted or you have arrived several years behind, she is the one who untangles it — without making you feel bad about it.

She is the reason our clients’ year ends are a formality rather than an excavation.

Looks after: bookkeeping · Xero setup and cleanup · VAT returns · payroll and RTI · CIS returns
What working with us is like

You get a person

One point of contact who knows your business, not a ticket number and a different name each time.

You get plain English

If we send you a figure, we tell you what it means and what you might want to do about it. No jargon for its own sake.

You get told early

Tax bills, threshold breaches, cash gaps — we flag them while you still have options, not on the deadline.
